Many of my clients have had a great deal of success using One-page diagrams. What is a One-page diagram, you ask? Aren’t all diagrams one page? Good questions.
A One-page diagram provides a view of an entire subject area all on one page. For instance. a One-page diagram may provide a view of an enterprise’s key functions in the form of a value chain. This One-page diagram may be redrawn to include the supply-chain. The key customers the enterprise serves may also be added. The end result is a picture that shows the entire universe of suppliers, key enterprise functions, and customers at a 50,000 foot level.
Surprising results spring from such a simple and clear view:
- The mission of the enterprise becomes crystal clear.
- Roles and functions take on a new meaning when viewed in context with each other.
- Areas of concern can be highlighted.
- Dependencies become visible.
- A sense of clarity can be achieved.
Do you have something to convey that would benefit from a holistic view? Consider creating a One-page diagram to do the job. You’ll be surprised at the results!
