Prezi: The Next Presentation Wave Using Visual Communication

Regular readers will not be surprised at my enthusiasm for a new presentation and teaching tool that provides the ultimate in one page diagrams: Prezi. You'll find this new technology at Prezi.com.

In a nutshell Prezi allows the creator to represent all the major concepts of an entire presentation on one page using text, pictures, and graphics. The application allows the presenter to zoom in on each item as he or she is discussing it or even link to a different page.

This provides an energy and momentum not found in your static PowerPoint presentation. Studies have shown that an effective presentation that combines text and graphics gives the topic more meaning and at the same time much more memorable to the participant.

Prezi also makes it possible to break out of the linear straight jacket of the PowerPoint model. While I have created PowerPoint presentations that provide more flexibility and fluidity than most, it was hard work and felt unnatural for the application. Prezi on the other hand was built with flexibility in mind and is accomplished with much more ease as a result.

For a great demonstration of this capability take a look at a presentation David Sibbet created entitled, "The Future of Visual Meetings: Group Graphics Meets New Technology." Not only is David the founder of Grove, a great company that helps those wishing to add graphic facilitation to their bag of tricks, I also consider David the father of Graphical Facilitation: a very effective tool I have used for over 15 years in my personal and professional life.

I'll posting more on Prezi and also the power of Graphical Facilitation but in the meantime I invite you to visit Prezi and also watch David's presentation and let us know what you think in the comment section below. For those early adopters we'd all be interested in your experience with the Prezi application and any useful resources you've found that have helped you in your journey.
